Hi, I’m Monisa.
I’ve been writing professionally for 6 years and storytelling my whole life.
I’m all about breaking down complex concepts (be it the mating habits of T.rexes or subraces of Tieflings) in ways that inform, resonate, and inspire .
I believe in the transformative and unifying power of stories, and that—be it in a game, tv show, article, or exhibit— equitable representation matters.
You want to talk about the future of multimodal storytelling? Social justice? What the best Zelda game in the franchise is (and why it’s Wind Waker)? Hit me up.
What I bring to the table
Weird, but cool experience
7+ years’ museum label writing experience, UX certification, and a love of all things visual storytelling come together to make the professional that is Me. Seems like these parts of myself shouldn’t go together, but they do. It means I can think broadly, and explain complex and unique ideas using simple, emotive language.
A penchant for collaboration
I’ve collaborated with a lot of people—designers, artists, animators, UX/UI designers, programmers, project managers, and department directors. But I also work with paleontologists, anthropologists, Tribal leaders and scholars, activists, high schoolers, and the occasional dungeon master. Basically, I can collaborate with anybody.
A Desire to Inspire
As a first and second generation Muslim Indian-American queer woman, I grew up desperate for stories that showed up for me, and that made me feel seen and accepted. At the crux of my writing is a passion to create content that is inclusive and accessible above all else.
